Focusy is a speed reading application available as a web app at focusy.co and as a browser extension. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we handle your data.

Data We Collect

We do not collect any personal data. Focusy operates entirely on your device with no data transmitted to our servers.

All data is stored locally on your device:

  • Reading preferences (speed, font size, theme)
  • Reading statistics (words read, sessions completed)
  • Saved texts in your library
  • Reading history

Web Application

The Focusy web app stores your settings and reading data using your browser's local storage. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us or any third party.

Browser Extension

The Focusy browser extension requires the following permissions:

  • Active Tab: To read selected text or page content when you activate the extension
  • Storage: To save your reading preferences locally and sync them across your browsers (via Chrome Sync)
  • Scripting: To display the speed reader overlay on web pages
  • Context Menus: To add a right-click option for quick access

The extension only accesses page content when you explicitly activate it. No browsing data, history, or page content is stored or transmitted.

Third-Party Services

Focusy uses Google Fonts to display text. When you visit our website, your browser may download fonts from Google's servers. Please refer to Google's Privacy Policy for information on how they handle data.

Data Retention

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it. You can clear your data at any time by:

  • Clearing your browser's local storage for focusy.co
  • Uninstalling the browser extension
  • Using the reset options within the application settings

Children's Privacy

Focusy does not knowingly collect any information from children. Since we don't collect personal data from any users, there is no specific data collection from children to address.
